Welcome to MARTE project
The MARTE project was developed thanks to co-funding by the Intelligent Energy Europe – IEE programme, under the MLEI PDA (Mobilising Local Energy Investments - Project Development Assistance) section. Its main objective was to promote local investment into energy efficiency in the healthcare sector, by means of innovative financial strategies and mechanisms. Like other European projects of this type, it was launched locally, involving 5 healthcare facilities located in the Marche region: the hospitals of Urbino, Pergola and San Benedetto del Tronto and the Polyclinics with Nursing homes at Petritoli and Sant’Elpidio a Mare.
To this end MARTE gave the impetus for the setting up of the EMF-Energy and Mobility Fund, a revolving loan fund coming within the Regional Operational Programme of the European Regional Development Fund- ROP Marche ERDF 2014-2020, and to promote contracts on the Energy Performance Contract (EPC) model, mobilising around 12 million euros of investment for improving the energy efficiency of three hospitals and two polyclinics-nursing homes.
The project developed over the course of three years and, besides the Marche Region in the capacity of coordinator, it involved four other partners: ASUR-Marche the Regional Health Authority, AESS- the Energy and Sustainable Development Agency of Modena, UNIVPM- the Marche Polytechnic University (DIISM and DICEA departments of the Engineering Faculty) and SIAIS- the Italian Society for Healthcare Architecture and Engineering. The project also saw the involvement of the Managing Authority of the ROP Marche ERDF 2014-2020.
